Logan Anderson
Executive Director
The Idaho State-Civic Symphony is pleased to welcome Logan Anderson as the new Executive Director. Logan has deep roots in Idaho and a longstanding relationship with the symphony.
Having grown up in Blackfoot, Logan was a member of the Idaho State-Civic Symphony as a trumpet player during the 2009-2010 season. In 2010, he won the ISCS’s Young Artist Competition, earning him the opportunity to perform Joseph Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto with the symphony. In 2009, Logan won first place in the solo division of the International Trumpet Guild’s Youth Competition held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance and a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from Brigham Young University and will receive his Doctor of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance from the University of Southern California in December of 2024.
During the Winter 2024 semester, Logan served as adjunct trumpet faculty at Brigham Young University-Idaho, teaching all the university’s thirteen trumpet students. During Logan’s tenure at BYU-Idaho, two of his graduating seniors were awarded full scholarships to prestigious graduate programs at the University of Michigan and the University of Iowa. Since 2016, Logan has been a substitute trumpeter with the Utah Symphony. Among his most memorable performances with the ensemble are Charles Ives’s 4th Symphony and the orchestra’s annual John Williams concert.
Logan was also a public educator in the Boise area, serving as Music Director at Renaissance High School and Director of Classical Music at the Idaho Fine Arts Academy. In the latter role, Logan secured over $20,000 in grants for the purchase of new instruments and music technology equipment for the school.
In addition to his performance and teaching career, Logan is also a composer for commercial and concert settings. In 2010, as a freshman at the University of Miami, he won a university-wide competition to compose the president’s entrance fanfare, performed at the semi-annual commencement ceremonies. Most recently, he composed the music for Spirit of the Art City, a short film celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Springville (Utah) Art Museum’s annual Spring Salon, which premiered in April 2024. His next project is Fantasia on Cheese, a documentary directed by Idaho native Hunter Phillips that follows the modern struggles of the remaining few traditional cheddar cheese makers in Britain. Apart from his time as a working musician, Logan also worked as a client success manager at BetterRX, a software company based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Logan lives in Blackfoot with his wife Lauren, a violinist, music educator, and native of Idaho Falls. They have two daughters, Eleanor and Adeline. As a musician with diverse experiences and accomplishments, Logan is excited to leverage his unique insights and leadership skills to further the mission and impact of the Idaho State-Civic Symphony. He and Lauren are thrilled to rejoin the arts community of Southeast Idaho.
