Our Story

Founded in 2005, the Idaho State-Civic Symphony Youth Orchestras—made up of the Youth Orchestra and the newly formed Youth Chamber Orchestra—offer young musicians in the Pocatello area a welcoming place to learn, grow, and perform together. Each week, students come together to rehearse exciting music that prepares them for evening concerts in the fall and spring. In midwinter, they share their love of music through a lively concert presented especially for local fifth graders, inspiring the next generation of young musicians.

Throughout the season, students also take part in sectionals led by Idaho State University faculty and professional musician coaches, giving them the chance to focus on their instruments, strengthen their skills, and deepen their understanding of the music they play.

The Youth Orchestras strive for musical excellence while nurturing confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of music. With the generous support of our community, these programs continue to enrich students’ lives and help build the orchestras of the future.
