Summer String Intensive 2026
This year’s Summer String Intensive will focus on technical skills on the instrument, practice techniques, specific guidance in preparing the excerpts for the audition, spending time working on the excerpts together as a section and with the full string section together, and an optional mock audition. This is a great chance to get two days worth of high level instruction, be inspired for the new season, prepare for the audition on August 22nd (which is mandatory for ISU students and new members and encouraged for all), and enjoy spending time in our friendly musical community. Thanks to the generosity of ISCS donors, the Summer String Intensive is free of charge and open to all interested string players.

10:45-12:00 :: ISCS audition excerpt technique and practice tips by instrument - valuable skill development whether or not you plan to take the ISCS audition this year!

1-2:00 :: Bass set up and pedagogy with Brianna Schmidt

1-2:00 :: Practice techniques on your instrument with Dr. Flanders
2:15-3:30 :: Using score study to prepare for orchestra (or chamber) rehearsal with Dr. Flanders
